Comment: Theodore the Tugboad Videos Rock

I had a post a few weeks ago about how terrible Thomas videos were about haveing 15 minutes of garbage before you got to the content (with no way of fast-forwarding). Well we got a Theodore the Tugboat video at the library and there was about 20 seconds of delay (for the FBI warning).

Also, should anyone be interested, the Theodore the Tug Boat Theme Song goes like this:

Theodore, he's a tugboat and a friendly tugboat too.
Oh, Theodore, likes to do the things that friendly tugboats do.
Pushin' and a pullin', in the great big harbour.
In the great big world, it's so much fun.
So many brand new things to discover.
Wakin' with the sun, gotta get the job done!
Oh, Theodore and Emily. Foeduck, Hank and George and the harbour master too!

Thomas Song Lyrics

This site has the TV show, they're 2 they're 4 they're 6 they're 8. There are alot of sites with the other Thomas songs (from videos, but for some reason, there's not with the 2 4 6 8 song from TV, even though it appears on the screen. I had a hard time finding it in a search engine (but my problem was mostly that I was searching for the number 2 rather than "two" spelled out)

News: I got a kick out of this weird newspaper article

I don't know what this ridiculous sounding commentary typically is about but it references Thomas the Tank Engine as part of what's good and wholesome about English culture. It seems like it might be a weird romance 'novel' in article form in the newspaper.

'I mean... As if Daniel is going to marry me. He can't even speak to me' - Irish Independent: "'Respect!' Freddo burst out, in his Cambridge falsetto, stepping valiantly into the breach like Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music when Captain Von Trapp loses all heart for Edelweiss during the Salzburg talent contest. 'Where has it gone? What has happened to it? Where are our English values? - cucumber sandwiches, Thomas the Tank Engine the red pillar box, the thud of tennis balls, the vicar on his bicycle, we shall fight them on the beaches, an Englishman's word is his bond?' News: The Times and Democrat - TAKEN WITH THOMAS: For little boys under 8, that Really Useful Engine has run away with their imaginations

This is a pretty great article summarizing Thiomas and kid's facination with him. It's not really news... I don't know why it's in a newpaper but someone brougt it to my attention so I figured I'd include it.

The Times and Democrat - TAKEN WITH THOMAS: For little boys under 8, that Really Useful Engine has run away with their imaginations

It was a time long, long ago in a land far, far away that a little boy lay seriously ill. The fever racking his body was accompanied by other symptoms of what appeared to be a cold. But three-year-old Christopher had the measles. His father, an Anglican minister in Wiltshire, England, sat by Christopher’s bed, wishing there was something he could do to ease his discomfort.

News: Percy will be back for the next Harry Potter Movie

I don't like his hair on the link, but he was cast well. He's supposed to be tall and thin like ron, as opposed to the twins who should have been stockier. Oh well.

Comment: Delayed Start on DVD's

This blog has it right on with this comment on DVD's that don't start right away:
"argh. that's my pet peeve! and the reason i will not purchase anymore Thomas the Tank Engine DVD's EVER. (the one we have was a gift). There's a good 15 minutes of Thomas the tank engine preview crap before the programming starts that you can not forward through."

News: Thomas the Tank Engine Licensing Info

Licensing can be pretty meaty in the toy business. Hasbro had no problem paying up to put out Star Wars toys. Smaller players have also carved out cozy livings. Where would RC2 (Nasdaq: RCRC) be without NASCAR or its Thomas the Tank Engine Learning Curve sets? 4Kids (NYSE: KDE) let its Pokemon license expire last month, but it's hard to imagine where the toy licensing specialist would be if it hadn't originally hooked up with Ash, Pikachu, and the rest of the cast from the once-popular Japanese animated series.

Thomas the Tank Engine - All Aboard
With a TV show, merchandise, and live appearances, this children's fave brought in $47 million last year
