News: Thomas Game Pack to Launch 1/03/10

The Thomas the Tank Engine iPhone app is launching tomorrow. Not that kids are expected to have an iPhone - handing your iPhone to your kid to play with when you're waiting in line or something is about the best use of the device. The name of the app is to be the "Thomas Game Pack". Happy trails!

Do you know ANYWHERE I could find some stats on Thomas - like total sales for all merchandise etc. I can get financials for Hit Enter and Mattel and such but it always includes all their brands. I've been scouring the web for over 2 hours entering every search term I can think of and can't get an answer. Any help would be appreciate. I'm trying to put a business plan together.

I just bought the iPhone app for my very excited 4-yr-old and am DISGUSTED to find it doesn't work. Both Apple (who own the app store, screen apps, and debit our accounts) and Hit Entertainment should be sued by the Thomas estate.

My personal opinion is that, Thomas limits childrens' experiences. I think it's great that there are things out there that children truly enjoy, however, every child I know of that has taken a liking to Thomas limits themselves only to things involving the train. How are children supposed to develop their imaginations, expand their thinking, explore other possibilities when their entire world is focused on the kiddie cult engine? If we sit down as a family to watch a movie, my boyfriends son will do everything except watch the movie because it's not Thomas. Sit down to draw with him and all he wants to draw is, Thomas. Buy him a toy and if it's not Thomas it doesn't get played with. I was a kid once upon a time and I loved, Barbie and Sesame Street and tons of other things; point being I was open minded, I loved new things and didn't obsess over any one thing.
