Post: THOMAS! He's the subversive one

There's a funny article in San Diego entitled "Legos have nothing on subversive 'Thomas the Tank Engine'". I quote:
What's funny, though, is contemplating what the Seattle teachers would make of the immensely popular "Thomas the Tank Engine" animated TV show, based on a popular series of British children's books.

Talk about indoctrination with the Protestant ethic! Most "Thomas" plots deal with the need of a dozen or two childlike trains to do their jobs properly and without fuss and to make proud Sir Topham Hatt, the railorad boss, who declares "confusion and delay" to be the greatest sins of all. It might as well be the cartoon version of the theories of sociologist Max ("The Spirit of Capitalism") Weber.

What an idiot. What values should be promoted? Thomas and the Lazy Communist?

This is an amazingly funny blog. I have a son who loves Thomas, and reading your comments cracked me up. I submitted this post to Yearblook.com - you should go and vote on it. Yearblook is a competition to find each day's best blog posts. At the end of the year, the 365 best posts (1 from each day) will be published in a book (a real, printed book you will find on Amazon).
